THE FOOD
CHAIN
The main food chains are in Provo & Grand Turk. Food stuffs
for personal consumption are duty free and therefore guests
overnighting in Miami are recommended to pack a 44-48 qt kooler with
meats & special luncheon favorites etc. This will enable you to
bring back Lobsters, Conch & Grouper etc. which is entirely
legal. Upon arrival in Provo, hire a cab for $6.00 and venture to
Island Pride Supermarket or IGA and pick up perishables such as fresh
veggies, milk, butter, beer, soda, bread, fresh fruit and more beer.
Ask the store to pack your groceries in cartons for ease of handling.
There is no extra charge.
For those guests staying more than a week, we recommend leaving a
suitable cash deposit with Island Pride Supermarket and a simple
phone call will put fresh supplies on the next plane. Pick up the
unused portion of your deposit upon departure. You will find much
seafood and bountiful lobsters available in season from the local
fisherman or your guides will dive up your dinner at no extra charge
upon request. Most dry goods are available on Middle Caicos in
several mom & pop grocery stores such as Annie or Maria Taylors
in Conch Bar or the Brown Bombers ( Gordo's ) general store in
Bambarra. Upon arrival you will find some basic needs &
seasonings in the villa's which you are welcome to use.
Please Replace If Possible.
WHAT TO
TAKE
We strongly recommend you take as little as possible realizing
that the average temperature in the islands is 80 degrees. Ladies
might wish to bring a light dress and the men a light pair of pants
particularly if you are going to attend church in Bambarra or Conch
Bar. You are most welcome.
Bring your own ultra light tackle. We have 20 to 50 lb. rental
tackle however no guarantees can be made due to damage misuse etc. We
are constantly updating and replacing equipment. These fish are Big
& Mean. Some snorkeling equipment is available for rent as well
as on-site compressor and scuba tanks @ 7.50 per tank. Weights and
backpaks are also available for a slight fee. WE HAVE A FEW
REGULATORS AND B.C'S AVAILABLE BUT DO NOT RELY ON OUR EQUIPMENT BEING
AVAILABLE UNLESS RESERVED IN ADVANCE. More equipment and boats are on
the way to service your every whim....
The women in the settlements are excellent crafts people and you
will find ample opportunity to purchase beautifully woven baskets,
hats, mats etc.. There is a small gift shop in Conch Bar specializing
in tee shirts and fishing tackle and native cooks can be hired to

really taste the flavor of the islands . Ask Ernest to order fresh
island bread upon arrival... You wont believe what your tasting...
